February 2, 2012 - We Arrive

Hello all!

Even the neighbors were excited!
It’s about 5:00pm here. Aleks and I arrived just fine at about 9:05 local time (4:05amd Toronto time), if somewhat bedraggled, bemused and tired. It was a very good trip and upgrading so I could convert my seat on the plane into a bed was very helpful. I actually slept for a couple of hours!!

The Kat table
My sweetie met me at the airport with a beautiful red rose between his teeth. As promised, I hurled myself at him and we had a wonderful hug. We found our way to the Animal Reception Centre and began the wait for the pup. It took a while, but four hours later, our very sad looking (but happy to see my sweetie) Aleksandra was brought to us. We put her in the back of a massive van with the crate and my luggage. Unfortunately, it was fully enclosed, so she had no access to us and no windows. Suffice to say, she was not amused. She did, however, calm down and sleep for part of the way.

First Sunrise
The Midlands are absolutely beautiful and Spring is definitely in evidence here. The Willows and Birch have popped their Spring colours already, although it was quite brisk today, and the grass is so green! There was a traffic jam on the M1 due to construction which added about an hour to our trip, but we finally arrived about 4:00. There, on the neighbour’s garage door, in very large, bright pink letters, was “Welcome Kathy”. Dan actually came home from work early to greet me. My sweetie’s put flowers in every room, classical music playing and hot pink, heart-shaped doorknobs on the bathroom door.

We’re going out to dinner now and the neighbours are coming over this evening to meet me.

Thank you all for your help and support these last few months. It made today possible.
A view I'll never tire of
